Ready to see how Duplicator is going to improve? Let’s dive in!

Dynamic Backup Names: Your Backups, Your Way

Have you ever been unable to locate the backup file you need? Those days are over.

You can now easily customize your backup names using dynamic tags. To help you better identify your backups, you could include information like the date, time, site title, and more.

Here are all of the dynamic tags you can use:

  • %year% – Current Year
  • %month% – Current Month
  • %day% – Current Day
  • %hour% – Current Hour
  • %minute% – Current Minute
  • %second% – Current Second
  • %domain% – Current Domain
  • %sitetitle% – Current Site Title
  • %templatename% – Current Template Name
  • %schedulename% – Current Schedule Name

These tags tell you exactly what the backup is and when it was created. No more guessing games!

Whenever you want to change the backup name format, go to the right-hand side of the package creation screen. Simply select the dynamic tags you want to include.

And the best part? Once you set up your preferred format and create a backup, future backups will use this template!

Your backups will have consistent, informative names without any extra effort from you. Dynamic tags automatically update, so you don’t have to worry about naming your backups anymore.

You’ll find this especially helpful with automatic backups. When building a template for the schedule, use dynamic tags to customize how you want the backup names to look.

Backup name template

Every time your schedule runs, you’ll see a new backup with this specific title. You could make this different than the manual backups, helping you better organize your backup log.
