[New] Introducing Duplicator’s Sleek Redesign: New Look, Same Great Features
[New] Introducing Duplicator’s Sleek Redesign: New Look, Same Great Features
Today, I’m excited to share that Duplicator is joining the Awesome Motive team led by Syed Balkhi.
Cory and I launched Duplicator in 2011 because we wanted to build a reliable solution that helped WordPress users migrate, copy, move, or clone a site from one location to another and also serve as a simple WordPress backup utility.
Over the last 12 years, Duplicator has grown a lot. We added many powerful features such as cloud storage integrations, scheduled backups, quick restore points, complex migration support, and so much more. Today over 1,500,000+ smart website owners and developers trust Duplicator as the leading WordPress backup and migrations plugin.
After leading the product for nearly a decade, we were ready to move on to the next chapter of our lives. But we wanted to pass the torch to someone who’s reputable in the industry and can take our vision to the next level.
With Awesome Motive’s vast resources and deep understanding of the WordPress industry, I know they’ll be able to make Duplicator even more powerful than it is today.
Since this is a BIG NEWS, you probably have a lot of questions like: who is Awesome Motive, what does this acquisition mean for existing customers, what will happen to the Duplicator team, what’s coming next, etc.
Awesome Motive is a company started by Syed Balkhi with a mission to help small businesses grow and compete with the big guys.
What we like about Awesome Motive is that it’s a bootstrapped company that’s truly purpose driven.
They’re behind some of the most popular plugins and resources in the WordPress ecosystem:

… and many more.
Collectively over 21 million websites use Awesome Motive plugins.
We have known Syed Balkhi, WPBeginner and Awesome Motive for multiple years and have a lot of respect for the work they do.
We also share a lot of the same values: commitment to excellence, customer service, and putting people first.
Aside from the shared commitment, their team has a lot of experience with running large plugins as well as working with cloud integrations, both of which are critical for Duplicator.
I’m confident that Duplicator will have a brighter future under Syed’s vision and leadership.
Aside from the new ownership change, it’s business as usual. You can continue to use the plugin that you love without any interruptions.
With the exception of Cory and myself, the entire Duplicator team will be joining Awesome Motive, so you can be comfortable knowing that the same people you know and trust will continue building Duplicator.
The product team will now be led by John Turner from Awesome Motive. John is a WordPress industry veteran with over a decade of experience building WordPress plugins. He will be leading and growing the team from here onward.
If you would like to join the team, please see the Awesome Motive Careers page for open positions.
I’m super excited to see what new features Syed and team will build in Duplicator.
We have shared our extensive feature wishlist, and we know that with Awesome Motive’s resources and experience that wishlist will become a reality much faster.
As we pass the baton, Cory and I want to say thank you to everyone who has supported us on this journey. We are extremely grateful to be able to play a small part in the amazing WordPress ecosystem.
I just want to say that I’m proud of the work we have done with Duplicator, and I am very confident in Syed’s vision to take Duplicator to the next level.
Lastly, I want to thank everyone who has supported us on this amazing journey. If you would like to stay in touch, you can connect with me via LinkedIn.
